As we continue to grow our organization, there is more and more that needs to be done to bring more students and trainees into the field of global surgery, which is why we are seeking dedicated and interested individuals from around the country for the available positions. These positions require a significant time-commitment and a genuine interest in the field of global surgery. They also require collaboration, a long-term vision, and creativity. National team applications open in November every year. Each applicant is required to submit the electronic application and upload their CV. Top applicants will then be interviewed. Each applicant is invited to apply for up to three VP positions. The Co-Chair position is a two-year commitment and only current VPs and GSSA chapter leaders are eligible to apply.

Only medical students, dental students, nursing students, PA students, other graduate students (Masters or PhD), and residents/fellows who are attending U.S. schools/institutions are eligible to apply for national positions. We still encourage undergraduate students to develop global surgery groups at their schools and continue to stay involved! For our friends around the world, we are happy to connect you with your respective national working groups and look forward to more collaborations in the coming year
